Old Bedalian 2006

Have you undertaken any kind of further study since leaving Bedales and have you gained any further qualifications?

I hold a BA (Hons) in Spanish Literature from UCL and an MFA in Theatre Directing from Birkbeck.

What kind of work are you currently involved in, and how and why have you come to be doing it?

Currently, I work freelance as a photographer, cameraman and director of commercials, documentaries and TV programming for broadcast. I have just finished working as the Filmmaker at the National Theatre, creating film and video content for publication worldwide.

Bedales has helped me in many ways, not least endowing me with the confidence to pursue a career in something I was passionate about

Did attending Bedales help you in getting to where you are now and how satisfied are you with what you are doing?

Bedales has helped me in many ways, not least endowing me with the confidence to pursue a career in something I was passionate about, rather than something that might be typically deemed sensible. I was never particularly sensible. I'm variously exhausted, frustrated, excited and challenged but always satisfied in what I'm doing. My work has taken me across the globe and into many different situations and I know there are lots of lessons Bedales taught me outside the classroom. I think I understand people better for having been there.

Have you been involved in any other interesting activities or occupations since leaving school?

I am the co-artistic director of a new theatre company called Kuleshov. I've written and directed at several reputable fringe theatres in London and Edinburgh and this is where my energy goes when it's not in work. I'm also still playing football regularly.
