What makes a good teacher?
Empathy with students.

What are you trying to encourage and instill in your pupils?
The courage to question and the strength to see things as they are.

Apart from your teaching role, what else do you get involved with at school?
I run the 2nd XI football  and senior tennis teams. I coach and referee rugby union. I administer the school’s travel awards scheme and am staff contact for GAP year planning. I am staff member on the student run GreenTeam committee. I am a member of the school’s international committee.

In your opinion, what makes Bedales special?
The desire to fit 30 hours of activity into each day – occasionally seeming to succeed!

What is your best memory at Bedales?
If field trips are “at Bedales” too – laughing until I cried with Bedalians at a Berber encampment in the Sahara desert.

Who and what inspires you?
The students who display uncontrolled expressions of delight at understanding a ticklish concept or cracking a difficult problem.

Tell us something not a lot of people know about you.
I am an African.
