Mathematics
Aims
- To show mathematics as an essential element of communication and to enable pupils to use mathematics in the analysis and communication of information and ideas.
- To enable pupils to appreciate that there are relationships between the different aspects of mathematics' structure.
- To show mathematics as a process, as a creative activity in which pupils can be fully involved, and not as an imposed body of knowledge immune to any change or development.
- To encourage pupils to engage in mathematical thinking rather than merely absorbing mathematical thought.
