In India’s world insecurity and bravery merge to become the superpowers of her friends and peers. Her story was beautifully told in a devised piece by Block 3 and 4s who blended their atypical school lives with crazy scenarios and a release of imagination that begins to disappear at their pivotal age. Richard Weinman, the drama department’s Director in Residence, created a piece which engaged both audience and performer. Reminiscent of well-known productions like Matilda it was by kids, for kids. The devising process is one which even adults can often struggle with, and from experience I know that achieving a coherent storyline and having an entertaining 60 minute production created essentially from nothing but a loose title is not an easy task. Devising is something which I, along with the other sixth form dramatists, plan on expanding and developing with, for example, enrichment programmes next year. From the actors to the three assisting directors to the technical crew handling professional standard projections, each and every cast and crew member contributed to a high standard. Everyone involved in these performances was fully committed and it was a pleasure to watch.
