Fundraising & Development

Bedales was founded in 1893 by John H Badley to educate the ‘head, hand and heart’. Over the past 100 years, the school has evolved and developed – assisted by the generous support of Old Bedalians, parents and others – and the school’s founding principles and spirit still remain very much at its core.

Endowment Fund

The school is embarking on a continuous programme of fundraising to create an endowment fund. This will help to secure the school’s long term future, and allow us to offer – through bursaries – a high quality Bedales education to those who may not be able to afford it. This is an area where Old Bedalians, parents and others can help, and we are keen to involve them in annual or monthly giving to support the school in this way.

Benefactions have been crucial in helping Bedales to develop its facilities and, above all, its unique approach to education. Gifts are commemorated in, for example, the Lupton Hall, the Simon Lecture Theatre and the Horsley Laboratories. If you can help Bedales to stay at the forefront of educational innovation, see our future plans, and come and talk through your ideas with us.

The Bedales External Relations Office raises funds for the Bedales Schools and develops the schools' relationships with their former students and Bedales Association members. Our network of former students spans the globe. Please contact Rob Reynolds, Director of External Relations or Dennis Archer, Alumni Officer.
