Lord Robert Winston delivers Science lecture at BedalesThe annual science lecture at Bedales welcomed Lord Robert Winston to the school this year for a talk entitled ‘Can we survive in the 21st century’. Members of the school and local community were joined in a packed school Quad by pupils from Pilgrims, Windlesham House, Highfield, Amesbury, Churcher’s College and Portsmouth High School.

Bedales supports Royal launch of charity saleBedales Schools Headmaster, Keith Budge and his wife Moony, helped welcome the Princess Royal to the launch of Save the Children’s 50th anniversary sale in Petersfield on 18 April. Keith was invited to attend in recognition of the school’s support for the Petersfield Save the Children branch over the years. Moony was there because of her integral role as committee member and former Chair of the local branch.

Bedales students inspired by Oxford Professor and China visitStudents at Bedales welcomed the school’s first ever Philosopher in Residence last term, attending lectures on philosophy with Professor Keith Ward, Emeritus Regius Professor of Divinity at Oxford University. Earlier in the term, students enjoyed a visit to China, including the experience of lessons at Chuansha High School in Shanghai.

Sculptor Martyn Grubb launches ‘Fall of Man’ exhibition at Bedales GallerySculptor Martyn Grubb is to launch his latest collections of works ‘Fall of Man’ at Bedales School’s Gallery from 15 April to 4 May. The theme of the Exhibition is inspired by Martyn’s belief that modern man has lost his way, is rudderless and unsure as to how he fits into society. This exhibition showcases his thoughts through an illustration of man's social and emotional plummet carved into materials including limestone, portland and scottish granite.

Bedales round-up the winter sports season with winsStudents from Bedales and Bedales Prep, Dunhurst scored wins in fixtures and tournaments across rugby, hockey and netball as the spring term drew to a close in a successful finish of Winter sports.

Dunannie’s young minds inspired by astronomy, Morpurgo, flight and Easter chicksPupils from Bedales Pre-Prep Dunannie have enjoyed studying subjects inspired by a variety of influences from aeronautical engineering to a stage play of Michael Morpurgo’s Farm Boy. As the term draws to a close they also witnessed the hatching of live chicken eggs, with the children watching enthralled as two chicks hatched during a lesson.

Dunannie children select 'Rewind' for their Easter School ProductionChildren at Bedales Pre-Prep, Dunannie, completed the final week of the Spring term with a production entitled 'Rewind Time' chronicling the exploits of a group of children who discover a time machine and press the wrong button.

Bedales Dance PerformsStudents studying Dance at Bedales performed their examined choreographed pieces on stage this week at the school’s Olivier Theatre.

Bedales students combine fair-trade with fundraisingPupils across the three Bedales Schools (pre-prep Dunannie, Prep Dunhurst and Senior Bedales) raised a total of £1000 for Comic Relief through cake sales, fancy dress and red nose purchases. Dunhurst combined fundraising with a focus on fair-trade with Dunhurst’s Ethics Committee, led by pupils, ordering fair-trade chocolate bars to sell including the Red Nose day Dubble Bar.
