Leavers' Destinations

Careers advice and consultation on university entrance are an important feature from Year 11 (Block 5) onwards, enabling students to reach considered and realistic decisions about higher education and the future beyond. Detailed individual discussion of higher education options begins in the lower sixth (6.i) and continues until a student is successfully placed.

University is the destination of the great majority of Bedalians, including a number each year who are awarded places at Oxford and Cambridge. Some go also to Art, Music or Drama Colleges in order to develop particular talents. Most popular universities over the past five years have been Oxford, Bristol, University College London, Leeds, Cambridge and Newcastle. The net is wide beyond that but, in general, an impressively top-drawer list.
