
An excellent week of sports at Bedales
The Bedales girls’ football team did the School proud on Wednesday with a 3-2 win against Lord Wandsworth College. The girls practise weekly and this was their first match of the term. Under the captaincy of Hennie Peel the girls were on the attack for the entire match; well done to Georgie Deane for scoring the winning goal.
Also victorious this week was the boys’ U19 hockey 1st team who beat Churcher’s College 1-0 in the Hampshire Cup. Other boys’ hockey results v Frensham Heights: U14 won 2-0; U15 drew 1-1. In the U16 rugby 7’s, Bedales was narrowly beaten in the Plate final by St John’s College in extra time.
At the U14 mixed cross country event at Frensham Pond, Bedales was the winning team with excellent performances from all runners despite the wet weather. Bedales student Amaro Alonso Ball won gold, which was a fantastic result.
Dunhurst Hockey Tournament
Dunhurst, Bedales junior school, hosted the annual U13 girls’ 7-a-side hockey tournament, which is one of the sporting highlights of the school year. Participating schools were: Dunhurst 1, Dunhurst 2, Portsmouth High School, Windlesham, Lavant House, Prebendal, Ditcham Park and Alton Convent.
Dunhurst 2’s played very well beating Portsmouth High and Lavant House, but lost to Windlesham. Dunhurst 1’s beat Ditcham Park and Alton Convent and drew with Prebendal. The final result of the 8 team tournament was: Windlesham 1st, Dunhurst Ones 2nd, Dunhurst Twos 3rd.
Well done also to Dunhurst’s U11 netball team who beat Churcher’s Junior School.
