01/02/2011

Bedales once again scored fantastic results in netball last week in a home game against Ryde that resulted in the U14 A team’s victory of 32-7 and the U14 B team’s victory of 25-4. The A team, led well by captain Phoebe Landers, applied their skills from practice into the match, resulting in a fast high scoring game. Player of the match was Lil Wetherall.

The B team started off with a strong start taking the lead with 7-0 in the first quarter, displaying strong mid court play from Poppy Duncan and Emily Blackley in defence. In the third quarter a massive 8 more were scored by Bedales to secure a final score at the end of the game of 25-4, with super shooting from Jojo Mosely.

Bedales 2nd netball team was victorious against Seaford with a brilliant 19-12 result. Despite Seaford’s fast pace, Bedales pushed back in the third and kept focused to win the game with great mid court play and interceptions. Alice Andrews was player of the match.

Commenting on the matches, Helen Retter, Head of Girls’ Sport, said: “The girls really pushed themselves to utilise their team’s abilities and were rewarded with excellent results.”

Dunhurst, Bedales Junior School, continued their winning streak with the U11 Boys’ hockey team 3-0 win away at Frensham.  Nicky Wilkinson scored 2 goals after good work from Finn Wheater and James Oldham scored the final goal after good work from Nicko Caines and Archie Gibbon. Henry Soper was playing in goal for the first time and made some excellent saves to keep a clean sheet. He was helped out in defence by James Oldham, Nicko Caines and Archie Gibbon. Oscar Hill, Michael McGuirk and Gabriel Ramswell were solid in midfield and broke down many of the Frensham attacks before they even started.

Dunhurst’s U11 Girls Hockey team did very well beating Alton Convent 4-3. The team put in a brilliant effort with Cecily and Rosie’s great goals, Willow and Pippa worked hard to keep possession and Scarlet did some great defending.
Commenting on Dunhurst’s continued success, Head of PE at Dunhurst, Rachel Hearnshaw, said: “We are delighted with these results and the excellent team play on display that led to such high scores – well done Dunhurstians!”
