Bedales develops link with China
Bedales is delighted to be welcoming a group of Chinese visitors in April. The students will attend lessons and stay in the school’s boarding houses as well as visit historic sites such as Portsmouth dockyard.
April’s visit comes out of a previous one to Bedales last year when the school welcomed a delegation of Chinese government officials and staff from Chuansha High School, Shanghai. The visit was part of a feasibility study to set up future staff / student exchanges between the UK and Shanghai. The first exchange took place in February 2009 when eight Bedales students (aged 16 and 17) and one member of staff spent seven days at Chuansha High School, visiting the families of students and attending English lessons.
The above photo shows Colin Prowse, Head of Geography at Bedales, being greeted by students at the school in Chuansha.
"It was a fascinating visit and extremely valuable in terms of increasing cultural understanding.' explains Colin 'We were made to feel very welcome by both students and staff, and we are looking forward to their return trip to Bedales after Easter."
