Bedales Girls Hockey Win 4-0 against Frensham Heights
Bedales U14 Girls got their season off to a flying start in a fast-paced and thrilling win against Frensham Heights. A tight-knit and motivated squad, led ably by captain, Ellie Catton, Bedales proved too strong for their opponents, with some fantastic team play leading to 4 stunning goals being scored – 3 of these by captain Catton herself, and the final goal netted by Lily Weatherill.
The game was a delight to watch, with strong, intelligent and intuitive play from Bedales – a hardworking and persevering quartet, including August Gilchrist ensured that the opposition struggled to form a threatening attack for much of the game. Not only this, but with some quick, incisive and penetrating passing, this promising midfield kept a strong and goal-hungry attack well supplied with the ball to keep Frensham under pressure in the ‘d’.
The defence, including Poppy Duncan and Margaret Rice, also deserves much credit for calm and authoritative control of the Bedales half of the pitch. Any attacks the opposition were able to make were calmly and cleanly halted, with the ball turned round quickly to set Bedales up for more attacking play.
A very promising start to the season!
