Bedales Hosts Roundtable debate on Education

Bedales played host to a roundtable debate on education, chaired jointly by Times Education Correspondent, Joanna Sugden and Dominic Oliver, Managing Head of Bedales School. Delegates discussing key topics on the education agenda were:
Kenneth Durham, Head of University College School and Chairman-elect of the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC)
Andrew Fisher, Headmaster, Frensham Heights
Matthew Burgess, Deputy Chief Executive, Independent Schools Council
Tom Murdoch, Solicitor, Charity and Education Team, Stone King Solicitors
Phillip Evitt, Headmaster, Highfield School

The debate, held at the Independent Schools Show in Battersea, provided the chance for key spokespeople from Independent schools to discuss educational topics of national news interest. Commenting on the issues discussed, Dominic Oliver, Managing Head of Bedales said: “It was a great opportunity to meet with counterparts from other schools and organisations linked with independent education to explore latest thinking on key issues like bursary provision and recent Government policies on education reform.”

Joanna Sugden, Times Education Correspondent and Chair of the event said: “‘It was good to meet with representatives from the sector and hear their perspective on key issues in education.”
