
Call for actors to audition for outdoor Shakespeare performances
Actors are invited to audition for Shakespeare outdoor performances as part of the inaugural Petersfield Shakespeare Festival which will take place in July 2012.
This new venture, to be held in the grounds of Bedales School, is a local community based creative outlet that will deliver high quality entertainment, for the local community by the local community. The opening festival will feature productions of Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night.
Jay Green, festival organiser and Head of Drama at Bedales School said: “This is an opportunity for actors to perform open air theatre is in a glorious country setting. We are hoping The Petersfield Shakespeare Festival will be an annual fixture, growing every year in scope and ambition.”
The festival provides an opportunity for actors to work on Shakespeare productions with professional directors Gavin Bruce and David Jackson. David Jackson’s work has appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe and the National Theatre as well as on BBC Radio 4; he specialises in directing site specific and outdoor work across the UK, for the National Youth Theatre for whom he leads a team of directors. He is on the board of the National Student Drama Festival. David is also a teacher and stand-up comedian. Gavin Bruce trained at RADA with a Masters in Directing; his work has appeared at the Greenwich Theatre and he is Head of Drama at Tonbridge School.
Auditions will take place on Friday 17 February 6.30-9.30pm and Saturday 18 February 10am-1pm at the Olivier Theatre, Bedales School, Steep.
