Dunannie Celebrates Harvest Time
Dunannie, Bedales Prep-Prep School, welcomed Reverend John Owen, Vicar of All Saints Church in Steep to a special Harvest Celebration last Wednesday featuring musical performances from children in reception class to Year 3.
To commence the Harvest Celebration, children from across the year groups presented bountiful harvest baskets to Dunannie Head Jo Webbern and Reverend John Owen to put on display. The music consisted of singing and percussion led by Music Teacher Anne Glen. Each year group sang a song linked to a letter in the word ‘Harvest’ in front of an audience of proud parents.
Commenting on the Harvest celebration, Jo Webbern, Head of Dunannie, said: “The children learnt of the importance of harvest time through the creation of harvest baskets and songs about working the land. Dunannie’s library room, where the celebration took place, was decorated beautifully by parents, staff and children with themed floral arrangements. They even made a scarecrow to preside over the harvest baskets. Reverend John Owen gave an engaging speech to the children about the importance of giving and receiving at this time of year. A special thank you to the parents who helped distribute harvest gifts to the local community.”
The children’s harvest baskets were later distributed to The Roberts Centre, which supports disadvantaged families in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire and to Ramscote Residential Home for the Elderly in Petersfield.
