27/03/2012

Dunhurst, Bedales Junior School, fought off the competition to win its annual U13 hockey tournament last Wednesday. Three Dunhurst teams comprising 30 girls were joined by teams from Ditcham Park, Portsmouth High, Meoncross and Alton Convent for an afternoon of hockey on the astroturf pitch.

The Dunhurst U13 1st team beat Ditcham: 1-0; Alton Convent 2’s: 4-0; and drew with Meoncross thanks to the skill of their goalkeeper, as although Dunhurst had 90% of the possession they could not get past her. In the semi final Dunhurst beat Portsmouth High 6-0, taking them to the final against Ditcham Park which the hosts won with a single goal.

Jane Grubb, Head of Dunhurst commented:
“Winning the trophy was a fitting end of the season for the Dunhurst girls who have worked hard all year. The commitment and dedication from all of the hockey girls has been really impressive.”
