February's Photo Competition Winner: Theo Acworth's Barn
To mark the introduction of the new Bedales website, we put out a call for anyone associated with Bedales to submit photographs that, in their view, capture the essence of Bedales. We received some great photos, together with some thoughtful and descriptive captions. A panel made up two students and two teachers judged the photos and we are delighted to announce that Sixth Form student, Theo Acworth, is the winner.
Theo wins a six month subscription to the magazine Practical Photography. Thank you to all those who sent in photos and also to our judges.
"This shot is of the Bedales barn at outdoor work. Outdoor work is one of the many features that makes Bedales shine over other schools. The unique work that goes on in this site such as bread baking and blacksmithing can not be found anywhere else, and the relationships that are developed between students and staff flourish in this setting. I feel that this picture which is showing the main barn represents this uniqueness within the school, and the snowy setting really adds something magical to the shot."
Because of the Easter holidays, the next competition will combine March and April. To enter a photo, email the Web Editor. Each photograph must be taken during the month that they are submitted; be in jpeg format; be accompanied by a brief explanation; and the person submitting agrees to the use of the photo and accompanying explanation for publicity purposes. There is no limit on the number of photographs submitted by an individual as long as each photo is accompanied by its supporting explanation. We look forward to seeing your photos.
