June's Photo Competition Winner: George Wilson
Following Theo Acworth’s atmospheric photo of The Black Barn taken earlier this year, we received some very creative and clever entries for the new photo competition. Thank you to everyone who contributed. After careful consideration, our panel of judges (made up of two students and two teachers) decided that ‘The Bedales Bubble’, taken by 6.2 student, George Wilson, is the winner.
George gives the following explanation:
‘By taking a 360 degree panorama of the Orchard, and then mapping it around a circle using special software, this effect is created which makes the image look like a planet. This picture shows the nature of Bedales, a community. At the time of taking this photo, in mid March, the first signs of summer begin to creep into the weather, and Bedales transforms. For example, many students can be found sitting, relaxing or revising in the Orchard - the heart of the school, where this photo is taken.’
George wins a six month subscription to the magazine Practical Photography.
Call for more entries (closing date: end of the summer holidays)
We very much look forward to receiving new entries which capture ‘the essence of Bedales’. You may find some inspiration at Parents’ Day, end of term celebrations or the Edinburgh Fringe! The competition is open to anyone who is connected with the schools.
Each photograph must in jpeg format; be accompanied by a brief explanation; and the person submitting agrees to their use for publicity purposes. There is no limit on the number of photographs submitted by an individual as long as each is accompanied by a supporting explanation. Email the Web Editor to enter. We look forward to seeing your entries.
