08/07/2009

The Under 13 rounders team at Dunhurst, Bedales prep school, recently won the S.E.H.G.S.A. (South East Hampshire Girls Sports Association) rounders tournament, which took place at The Petersfield School.

Dunhurst beat Bohunt School, Mayville High School, Portsmouth Grammar School, St. John’s School and The Petersfield School, scoring a total of 30 rounders, conceding only seven and a half.

Head of Sport and PE, Rachel Hearnshaw, says:

'The team, captained by Freya Deane, played extremely well and we are really proud of them.'

Another sporting success was the Inter-school Sports Day hosted by Dunhurst School.  Ten schools entered and as many as 230 children participated.  Events included long-jump; high-jump; javelin; discus; shot put; and track events.  This is one of the largest inter-school athletics events in the area and Dunhurst was delighted to host it once again this year.
