Students from Dubai College visit Bedales Schools
Following on from the very successful Bedales School visit to Dubai last February, it was the turn of the Dubai students to visit Bedales.
This biennial drama exchange programme organised by Jo Alldridge (Head of Dance and House Mistress at Bedales) and Irma Jones (Head of Drama at Dubai College) has been running for over 18 years.
Students and staff at Bedales were delighted to welcome the 14 A Level drama pupils from Dubai. They spent just over a week touring local primary schools, delivering a piece of devised theatre ‘Little Lucy, the OAP and the Magical Quest through Tyroli’. The play, based on characters and themes present in fairy tales, drew on modern influences in the form of music and dance. Following the performances, the students also led workshops with the Year 5 and 6 pupils.
Head of Drama at Dubai College, Irma, says:
'The students were particularly impressed by the tangible sense of creativity which permeates Bedales. This is the first school they’ve visited where they feel students are encouraged to be such independent and free-thinking individuals. Overall it’s been a very inspirational experience for our students which they will remember for the rest of their lives.'
Head of Bedales Schools, Keith Budge commented:
'The Dubai exchange is an integral part of our extensive programme of international visits and exchanges. We’ve greatly enjoyed hosting them. Such links are really important in helping our students connect with other parts of the world.'
A trip to the National Theatre in London and helping Bedales 6th form students bake Christmas puddings were amongst some of the highlights of the week.

I'd encourage you to step out of your imagination and come and see Bedales for yourself... more
