Team Bedales Conquers Great South Run and £1000 Target
On Sunday Team Bedales led by Headmaster of Bedales Schools, Keith Budge and wife Moony conquered the 10 mile challenge and exceeded their fundraising target, achieving a grand total of £1670.
The money will be equally divided between the two school supported charities, the Bedales bursary scheme, the John Badley Foundation and the Junior School, Dunhurst’s, Miraflor Project funding educational facilities in Nicaragua.
The Dunhurst Miraflor Project funds new facilities and educational materials for the Escuela Vincente Talavera School in Miraflor, Nicaragua. Supporting the development of the school has improved the local community’s quality of life in so many ways. To date Dunhurst has helped to raise a total of £10,000 for Miraflor’s School. The money raised through Team Bedales’ efforts in the Great South Run will help to equip a new classroom in the Nicaraguan School with chairs, tables, a blackboard and other educational materials.
Named after the School’s founder, the John Badley Foundation is an endowment fund to support full bursaries for talented youngsters who otherwise could not afford a Bedales education.
Commenting on the race, Headmaster Keith Budge said: “Congratulations to all the runners who completed the race. The wonderful conditions made for an enjoyable day and I would like to thank all our sponsors for their generosity and for providing the extra motivation to cross the finish line."
