There are ways of articulating your views and even challenging authority to bring about change. J H Badley, founder of Bedales, would have recognised these sentiments. They are a testament to the radicalism of his vision – and to its enduring vitality, 115 years on. Mr Badley wanted to create a school based on mutual trust and respect. Contrary to all conventions of Victorian public schooling, this meant actually listening to and valuing the opinions of students as well as staff."
