Bedales > Pastoral Care > Boarding versus Day Students

Boarding versus Day Students

The senior school (13-18) at Bedales is predominantly boarding – 75% boarders vs 25% day – which enhances the strong and vibrant community. The boarding houses also form the school-time home for day students whose inclusion in the life of the house ensures that they feel fully part of this community.

Each student, whether boarding or day, is in the care of a housemaster or housemistress who will build a detailed knowledge and understanding of each child and keep closely in touch with parents. Strong teamwork is characteristic of Bedales’ approach to pastoral care.

During the first four years Steephurst is home to the girls, and the boys are housed on Boys’ Flat. For their final year at Bedales, girls and boys move to a coeducational boarding house in the centre of the school.
