The taught curriculum in Block 3 (Year 9) provides
the opportunity for consolidation of students' prior learning, for
the introduction and exploration of new areas of study, and in some
subjects a degree of specific preparation for GCSE work which commences
fully in Block 4 (Year 10).
A wide range of teaching and learning experiences is characteristic.
In addition to work in the classroom, students will be given prep
to complete in their own time according to a weekly timetable. Students'
work is assessed by individual teachers, and reviewed by the whole
staff five times a year. Individual reviews are also carried out
by tutors with each of their students.
Students are expected to exercise a high degree of responsibility
over the organisation and conduct of their own work, under the guidance
of their tutor. Subjects are set in a variety of different ways,
so that very few students will find they have identical timetables.
