What makes a good teacher at Bedales?
Being approachable, flexible, quirky and having stamina.
What are you trying to encourage and instil in your students?
Motivation in languages and to be interested in the world around them.
Apart from your teaching role, what else do you get involved with at the school?
In your opinion, what makes Bedales special?
There are so many opportunities to be creative and innovative. If you have an idea about a project you can do it and people will help you no matter how off-the-wall it seems. The students are proud of their school and teaching Bedalians is very rewarding.
What is your best memory of Bedales?
Watching the performance of Cabaret.
Who or what inspires you?
Some of my own teachers and lecturers from when I was a student.
Tell us something not a lot of people know about you
I got married in a Japanese Shinto shrine and have a 1st dan in kendo.
