Why Bedales?

I'd encourage you to step out of your imagination and come and see Bedales for yourself. Give yourself some time to enjoy the estate. Talk to me and to other senior staff about your child: we will want to know about his or her special strengths, quirks and needs. Quiz me on our examination results, our university successes, our broad and imaginative curriculum, our proud tradition of student involvement and decision making, our 110 years' experience of coeducation and our sense of community.

But other things will be more important still. Ask searching questions of the students who will show you round: they will respond honestly and openly. Try to get a feel for the atmosphere: I cannot define it for you – it is an unusual one and simply there. If Bedales is the right school for your child, then it will feel right, and you and your child will know. Above all, look at the faces of the staff and students you meet. Do they seem open and cheerful? These are the things that I think make Bedales special. I do hope you will come and see for yourself.
