6.2 v Staff Hockey Match 2025

The annual 6.2 vs Staff Hockey Match provided plenty of excitement, with 6.2 (Year 13) securing a well-earned 3-1 victory after an early scare from the staff team.

The match began with high intensity, and it was the staff team who struck first. Learning Support Teacher Nathan Honeycombe opened the scoring with a stunning backhand finish, leaving the 6.2 defence and goalkeeper with no chance. The early goal gave the staff momentum, and they pressed hard for a second, but 6.2 stood firm, weathering the storm and growing into the game.

As the first half progressed, 6.2 found their rhythm. Jonah was the first to respond, capitalising on a well-worked move to bring the game level. With confidence building, Ed soon put 6.2 ahead with a composed finish after a slick passing sequence.

The second half saw the staff team push for an equalizer, but 6.2’s defence held strong, with some key interceptions and solid goalkeeping keeping the lead intact. As the game neared its conclusion, Bo sealed the win with a well-taken goal, ensuring a 3-1 triumph for 6.2.

It was a competitive and entertaining match, with both sides showing great skill and determination. The staff put up a strong fight, but 6.2’s attacking quality and superior fitness ultimately made the difference. Well done to all 16 6.2 students who played and thank you to the staff for dusting the cobwebs off their sticks and coming down to the astro; see you all next year!
