Bedales Senior, Co-curricular

This term has seen an exciting shift in our fixture list, with a focus on competing against strong local schools to stretch and challenge our players at all levels. The aim has been to provide more competitive and demanding matches, encouraging our teams to develop both technically and tactically. The response from the players has been fantastic, with each team rising to the challenge and demonstrating resilience, improvement and a real sense of team spirit throughout the season so far.

The Boys’ 1st XI ended their season on a high with a well-earned victory against Ryde School, a result that reflects their continued development and growth throughout the year. Their performances across the term have showcased their ability to compete at a high level, both technically and physically. A special thank you goes to George McGrath for his leadership and commitment as captain, guiding the team through a challenging and rewarding season.

With limited fixtures this half term, the Boys’ 2nd XI have instead demonstrated their commitment through excellent training attendance and a strong desire to improve. Their efforts have been evident in their skill development, and their dedication will serve them well as they continue their hockey journey. I would like to thank James Walker for all his efforts as captain this season and getting the side together - I look forward to seeing their progress next year.

The U15 and U14 teams have shown great enthusiasm and dedication throughout the term, making excellent progress in both training and competitive play. The U15s, despite having fewer fixtures, have been committed to their development and will be well prepared to step into the senior hockey program next year. The U14s, in their first full season together, have demonstrated increasing tactical awareness and confidence in matches. Their steady improvement is promising for the future, and it will be exciting to see how they continue to grow as a group in the coming years.

It has been a pleasure to lead the Hockey program this year, and I am incredibly proud of the progress each team has made. The players' commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to develop their skills have been outstanding. I look forward to following their journeys as they continue through the School, and I am excited to see how they build on their success in the seasons to come.
