Girls' U15 Football v Frensham Heights School (A) - Tuesday 4 March

5 - 2

Bedales' U15 girls came from behind after an early setback to secure an impressive 5-2 victory against Frensham Heights, thanks to a dominant second-half performance. The game was tightly contested in the first half, but Bedales’ quality shone through after the break.

Frensham got off to a fast start, taking the lead in the eighth minute with a quick counter-attack that caught the Bedales defence off guard. A well-taken shot from inside the box put Frensham 1-0 ahead early on.

The Bedales girls responded well to going behind; Sophie sent a perfectly weighted ball through to Annie who made no mistake, calmly finishing past the Frensham goalkeeper to equalise 1-1.

Bedales continued to apply pressure and in the 18th minute they took a 2-1 lead with a fine finish from Sophie off a well-delivered pass from Masha. However, Frensham wasn’t done yet and equalised in the 22nd minute with a powerful strike from inside the box that found the bottom corner, bringing the score to 2-2.

Just before the break, Bedales regained the lead in dramatic fashion. A quick break saw Sophie sprint down the wing, sending in a cross that was met by Masha, who finished from close range to give Bedales a 3-2 lead at half time.

After the break, Bedales came out with renewed energy, determined to secure the win. In the 40th minute, they extended their lead to 4-2. A brilliant team move saw Annie drive forward, laying off the perfect pass to Evie, who finished with a long-range strike in the top left corner to put Bedales two goals clear.

Frensham pushed hard to get back into the game but found Bedales’ defence difficult to break down. Georgie was strong in goal, making a crucial save in the 50th minute to deny Frensham any hopes of a comeback.

As the game neared its end, Bedales sealed the victory with their fifth goal in the 55th minute. A perfectly timed ball from Paloma found Annie in space, and she finished expertly, rounding eight players and making it 5-2 to put the game beyond Frensham’s reach.

Girls' 1st XI Football v Lord Wandsworth College (A) - Wednesday 5 March 2025

2 - 0

The 1st XI girls travelled to Lord Wandsworth for their third match of the term in a highly anticipated game following one win a piece in the previous two encounters. Despite only having 11 players with no substitutes, the team was determined to give their all. The match kicked off with high intensity, and it didn’t take long for Ella to make an incredible impact with an early goal, putting the team 1-0 up. The first half was tough, with both sides pushing hard. The girls held their ground, defending well and maintaining the lead going into half time.

After the break, the team came out with renewed energy and determination. Ella scored another fantastic goal to extend the lead, but there was a moment of disappointment when Brooke's well-placed shot was ruled offside. The defence worked tirelessly throughout, with Pandora and Sorrel sprinting up and down the pitch, offering vital support both in defence and attack. Their efforts, along with strong teamwork across the field, kept Lord Wandsworth at bay.

The match ended 2-0 in favour of the girls - a well-earned victory after a physically demanding game. Pash and Brooke were named MVPs for their outstanding performances. Well done to all the girls for a fantastic team effort!
