In this double bill of entertainment, Beyond Face's All One Way will be presented alongside a work-in-progress curtain raiser, Universalis, performed by one of Beyond Face's associate artists.

Universalis

Performed by Shaday Barrowes-Bayewunmi.

Ever sat opposite your partner and wondered, am I pretending to be something else for this person? As a young black woman; Shaday is still trying to figure out who she is. But aren’t we all? Hence the reason for this show. Join shaday in this live art, sex frenzy, poetry and musical mash-up. Following Shaday’s late diagnosis with Alopecia Universalis, Shaday has spent her life picking apart her identity whether that be for the men she dates, her white peers, her family or her friends. Am I sexy enough? Who am I? We all use masks but where is the line? When does it become destructive?

This work-in-progress show is a mixture of sexual fantasies, shame and far too many awkward moments. Audience members will either be hysterically moved or enthusiastically excitable. Join Shaday in Universalis as she discovers when do masks become destructive?

Trigger warnings: Explicit language, self-harm, eating disorders, sex, race

All One Way

It’s the eve of her 30th birthday and Effie just wants to get home. Stranded at a train station, she starts to feel like it’s not only her train that’s delayed. Can Effie manage the ever-increasing societal pressures, as well as her own expectations and anxieties of her fast-approaching next decade and make it home in one piece?

All One Way is a brand new pop-up show, presented by Beyond Face. Directed by Alix Harris and performed by Shiquerra Robertson and Corinne Walker.
