Bedales has been providing an innovative co-educational boarding school education for over 100 years at its stunning location in the south of England. The 120-acre estate includes oak-beamed listed buildings, three award-winning buildings (the Bedales Theatre, Orchard Building and Art & Design building), contemporary designed classrooms, playing fields, orchards, woodland, pasture and a nature reserve. The school has excellent access to rail and airports.
Educating boarders from from age 9-18 years, we stimulate students into wanting to achieve. Our founder believed that involving ‘head, hand and heart’ was the key to growth and development, which is today reflected in a unique, rich and varied curriculum. We offer high standards and considerable flexibility in our academic programme, whilst retaining a wide range of opportunities for personal development and extracurricular activities. The school provides specialist English language teaching.
The Bedales approach to learning opens minds and stimulates independent thinkers who are well prepared for life beyond school. Our students arrive at similar destinations to those in more formal educational settings, they have just taken a different route. The vast majority of our students continue their education at UK Russell Group universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, art colleges and increasingly, at overseas universities.
Bedales welcomes enquiries from international students for entry to Bedales School (13-18 years) and Bedales Prep School, Dunhurst (8-13 years).
Bedales teaching and admissions staff visit a number of countries throughout the year to meet prospective students and their families. If you would like to discuss admissions or book an appointment for one of the school's overseas visits, please contact Janie Jarman, Registrar on 01730 711733.
Students at Bedales whose first language is not English are offered support by the dedicated English as an Additional Language (EAL) department.
