13 is the modern and eccentric musical, which was performed this week by Block 3s and 4s in the Olivier Theatre, covering many scary yet comical elements of growing up and becoming a teenager, such as a girl or boy’s first kiss, which was the main basis of the play, along with the complications of friendships, relationships and lies. The musical starred many budding actors and actresses, including the brilliant Leo Newlands, who played the main role of a young boy who moved to a small town from New York. Other stars were Becky Grubb who was the best friend, Michael Monfort-Tennant who played the jock, and his two trusty sidekicks played Lochie Dix and Lucas Closs. 13 amusingly conquered many of the problems kids face, causing cringing moments for the audience, along with moments of pure enjoyment. The songs brought the theatre and the audience to life, leaving a smile on everyone’s faces. Read more. View programme.
