Exhilarating, sensational, exciting! This sums up the experience for 11 of us of Lasham Gliding Centre near Alton. A half-hour drive from Bedales landed us in the middle of the airfield, where we were greeted by two experienced instructors.

This week the U15 cricket team won again, beating Sherfield. Bedales batted first and despite losing early wickets posted a good score of 113 from 16 overs. Luca Caruso batted extremely well and was unfortunate to fall short of his half century, scoring a rapid 43.

No one can say we are not diverse at Bedales. The weekend before last boarding students went clay pigeon shooting on Saturday afternoon, and designed and made t-shirts in the evening.

Tesco played host to Block 4 Computing students last week to explore a commercial application of IT systems – which served as a useful revision session on hardware and software the week before the Block 4 exams.

Ocean acidification is a process that is threatening much of the flora and fauna in the world’s seas. It is closely linked to global warming (both being affected by increased CO2 emissions) and it is a massive problem.

In cricket, the U15s took part in a tournament at KES, Witley. In the first game Bedales were slow to get off the mark and lost wickets at regular intervals to lose shots which ultimately led to the team posting a low score of 68 off 16 overs.

On Monday a select group of 6.1s visited the Royal Green Jackets Museum in Winchester, housed within the spectacular army barracks, to look at the excellent diorama of the Battle of Waterloo.

The weekend before last, Benedict and Clare took 10 boarders to Greenwich as an activity. We went on a boat from the Embankment to Greenwich Pier. We really enjoyed the views on both sides of the River Thames and we saw famous buildings, like the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.
