Bedales featured as stand-out school for Outdoor Learning

In its newly-launched termly digital magazine Chalk & Chat, The Good Schools Guide features Bedales as a stand-out school for outdoor learning. Outdoor Work is a key feature of the education across the 3-18 curriculum at all three Bedales Schools, and the article highlights the school’s GCSE equivalent Bedales Assessed Course in Outdoor Work qualification that can be taken at the school.

The article quotes Andrew Martin, Bedales Head of Outdoor Work: “We see the development of both social and problem solving skills, enhanced respect for themselves and their environment and ownership of their own work, which is hugely beneficial for their self-confidence.”

Projects and activities mentioned include hedge-laying, black-smithing, gardening, livestock management, converting old machinery into seating, building barns, making a pond and creating natural sculptures.
