Bedales has received a glowing write-up in both The Week Independent Schools Guide Autumn/Winter 2019 and the Tatler Schools Guide 2020.

Bedales is singled out as the top independent senior school that is “great for boarding” in The Week Independent Schools Guide’s ‘Best of the Best’ section. Pizza making in the barnyard, cinema, bowling and trips to other local attractions are listed as typical weekend activities for boarders, but typically, Bedales does things their own way: “There’s no strong house identity or competition between houses; the ethos is one of community and cooperation. Friendships across the years are encouraged via mixed-age dorms. Year 13s have their own co-ed boarding house – great preparation for university”.

Returning for its 16th annual edition, the Tatler Schools Guide – which strives to give its readers the “inside track to the best independent schools in the country” – points to Bedales’ “well-rounded, open-minded approach” as a popular draw for parents, explaining that it allows students to be themselves, pursue their own interests and develop in confidence and ability without being stifled. Tatler credits the school’s renowned Outdoor Work department – which has positioned Bedales ahead of other schools for sustainability – as just one of the factors that makes Bedales students “happy, talented, genuinely interested and focused”.

Bedales also featured in the Daily Mail’s “most impressive” list of schools from The Tatler guide. The 2020 Tatler guide is not yet available online. See last year’s write-up on Bedales here.
