Bedales Geography: data skills in the workplace

Posted on 20th March 2018

Bedales Head of Geography, Paul Turner, discusses how he embeds data skills into his teaching as part of Royal Geographical Society focus on teaching with data skills. Paul also looks at how technology can enhance lessons and fieldwork, as well as giving an insight into his career and background.

Paul said: "With recent changes to both the Geography GCSE and A Level courses, data and data skills have both seen an increased focus and attention in Geography. The nature of Geography as a subject which challenges students’ stereotypes, of the world, lends itself to using up-to-date real world data to inform students’ views. I’ve been fortunate to be involved in the RGS’ national project as a “Data Champion” running workshops and speaking at events to encourage fellow teachers to pick up the baton and embrace data."
