Bedales to host mental health charity walk

Posted on 20th April 2016

The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust (CWMT), which raises awareness of mental health issues, fights stigma and educates people and professionals, is holding an awareness day at Bedales School on Friday 6 May. The school is hosting CWMT for this event as part of its commitment to support students’ mental health.

CWMT aims to equip young people to look after their mental wellbeing, stating that 75% of mental health problems originate in adolescence with 50% being present before the age of 14.

As part of the event, two walks will be available around Steep, including a walk to the Poet’s Stone for the energetic, where poems relating to the Trust’s work will be read, and a less strenuous student-led tour of the school taking in the Grade 1 listed Memorial Library and the unique Outdoor Work department.

Walkers should meet at Bedales (GU32 2DG) at 10.00 for coffee, walks start at 10.30 and return for sandwiches and refreshments at 12.30. Dogs on leads are welcome. Donations to CWMT on the day will be gratefully accepted, and for further details contact
