More than 60 children from local schools participated in a mini tennis festival at Bedales Pre-prep School, Dunannie on 14 June.

The event, for 5-9 year old children from local schools, included a mini tennis tournament. Overall winners were Amesbury School who beat Dunannie by one point in a tense play-off final. Other participating schools were West Meon Primary and Barrow Hills.

Head of Tennis at Bedales Schools, Graeme Coulter, said:

“I was very pleased to see our new courts full of children of all abilities enjoying tennis. This was a new initiative to encourage local youngsters to pick up a racket, which we need to encourage if we are going to produce another Wimbledon champion! The event was also excellent experience for our older students to develop their coaching skills.”
