Design winners at Bedales and Dunhurst
An exciting fashion project involving collaboration between Bedales, Dunhurst and local childrenswear business, no added sugar, has resulted in several students winning prizes and internships at the company in the New Year.
Sixth Form fashion students at Bedales and Group 1 pupils from Dunhurst joined forces in November to create fashion designs to the theme of ‘the wonder of you’.
Louise Fellingham, teacher of design at Bedales said: “Students were given the opportunity to receive feedback from the team at no added sugar to help focus their designs, ensuring they met the brand’s ethos and edgy style. Through hand and digital rendering, they produced innovative print and silhouette ideas based on how children see the world.”
The winners of the most innovative and effective design collections were Rufus Seagrim (6.1) and Paige Winstone (Group 1) and Carraic O’Donnell (6.1) and Pendle Livesey (Group 1). Rufus and Carraic will take up their internships in the New Year and Paige and Pendle received T-shirts designed by no added sugar.
Deborah Medhurst, Founder and Creative Director at no added sugar said: “We were delighted to work with the Bedales fashion department and loved the idea of the collaboration between students of different ages. Their level of commitment was impressive and there is clearly a strong design talent emerging from both Bedales and Dunhurst. When the winners presented their collections, there was a level of luxury and sophistication that fitted with the brand and it showcased their ability to work successfully to a brief. It was a truly inspiring experience for us and we are looking forward to Rufus and Carraic’s creative input during their internships with us.”
