Dunhurst footballers win league to cap off unbeaten season

Posted on 10th December 2018

Bedales Prep School, Dunhurst has finished the term on a high note after their U13 football team was crowned winners of the North Hampshire Football League.

The win comes after an unbeaten season for the side, who proved to be a tough team to beat from the outset, winning a series of friendlies at the start of September before the silverware began to mount up.

Their first competitive win came later that month, when they emerged as winners of a tough tournament at Highfield School. Beating Frensham Heights 8-4, their fine performance on their pitch continued in October as they claimed victories in another two tournaments – including the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) tournament in Oxfordshire.

The team’s final league match against Ditcham Park last week was an incredibly close decider, but Dunhurst came through on top once again with a 4-3 victory.

Dunhurst’s Head of PE/Sport Will Bray said: “The U13 footballers have had a fantastic season, topped off this week by being confirmed champions of the North Hampshire Football League.

“Right from the very first match, they were always going to be a tough team to break down as they quickly formed an extremely close unit, defending well together, but also playing high quality passing football in attack and scoring more than six goals per game on average.”

Head of Dunhurst, Colin Baty also commented: “Dunhurst and Bedales Sport continues to thrive and it is great to see the U13 team do so well across a range of matches and tournaments – a fantastic effort and so well deserved under Will Bray’s coaching and leadership.”
