We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Bedales Podcast, a series that offers fresh insights into both life at school, and life beyond Bedales, created by a team of 6.1 (Year 12) students alongside Old Bedalian (OB) Sofia GM (2012-14).

As part of a weekly Podcast Sixth Form Enrichment activity this term, four students have deep dived into the what, where and why of creating a podcast, including interview techniques and editing training from BBC executive and founder of Petersfield Shine Radio, Stephen Martin.

Equipped with their new skills, the students have taken to the campus to record engaging, high-quality content. Agnes Bathurst turned to the drawing board to create the heritage style podcast logo, Anna Kulynych composed and recorded the jingles, Nadia Mubgar-Spencer wrote and also recorded the intro and outro with Naz Forte assisting in planning questions and tracking down interviewees. Alongside this, Sofia has been busy meeting with various OBs.

Sofia commented:

"It has been truly wonderful to come together with Bedales staff, current students, and fellow Old Bedalians to create and launch the very first Bedales podcast! It’s been fascinating to hear the diverse stories and experiences, spanning different decades, careers, and locations, all while reflecting on what unites us: our time at Bedales and the lasting impact it has had on shaping who we are".

In our first 'Beyond Bedales' episode, Sofia interviews OB Joanna Tomlinson (1997-99), a renowned conductor, singer, vocal coach, and founder of Constanza Chorus, along with three other OB members of this London-based choir. Our first 'Life@Bedales' episode features 6.1 (Year 12) students Naz and Agnes in discussion with Bedales Houseparent and Teacher, Chris Bott.

External Relations Director, Rob Reynolds, commented:

“We are so grateful to the students, Old Bedalians, parents and colleagues who have helped get our podcast off the ground. Through the voices of members of our community, we aim to inform, entertain, inspire, and challenge in equal measure, giving listeners a sense of the richness of Bedales life.”

Tune in, subscribe, and enjoy the creativity, passion, and insight that our students have poured into this exciting new project. Episodes can be found on our website here, also published on Acast (https://shows.acast.com/bedales-podcast) and distributed on all the major podcast platforms (here's the Spotify link).

The school would love to hear from anyone interested in featuring in a future episode by contacting podcast@bedales.org.uk.
