Oxbridge and Yale success
Seven Bedales students have received offers to study at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, with one further student accepted by Yale University, Connecticut.
Rachel Forsyth has been offered a place to study English at Pembroke College, Cambridge; Octavia Paterson has been offered a place at Christ Church, Oxford to study Philosophy and Psychology; Nancy Powell’s offer is to study Theology at Oriel College, Oxford and Lilly Samarine has an offer to study French and Russian at Wadham College, Oxford. In addition, Lucy Ellis has secured a place at Yale University to study Liberal Arts, majoring in Modern Languages.
Joining them will be three Bedales leavers of 2017. Former head girl Sam Harding has secured a place to study Human Social and Political Sciences at Newnham College, Cambridge. She is currently in Berlin honing her language skills having spent three months organising a conference at the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and the Humanities, Bard College, New York. Budding script-writer Emily Swettenham has secured a place to read English at Girton College, Cambridge. Jamie Murphy has a place at Queen's College, Oxford to study English; he is currently working at the Cambridge Arts Theatre.
Keith Budge, Headmaster, Bedales Schools, commented:
“Congratulations to our students for these offers. They will be great contributors to their new institutions as they have been to the Bedales community. I am sure they will be well prepared for the academic rigours of their studies.”
Rachel, Sam and Emily all attended Bedales Prep School, Dunhurst before progressing to Bedales Senior School and Sixth Form, with Emily joining Dunhurst from Bedales Pre-prep, Dunannie.
