What makes a good teacher at Bedales?

A sense of humour, imagination and endless amounts of enthusiasm.

What are you trying to encourage and instil in your students?

Not all Chemists wear white coats and/or tweed jackets in later life. Chemistry is not hard, just sometimes challenging. Always question, theories are just that, theories.

Apart from your teaching role, what else do you get involved with at the school?

Tutoring.

In your opinion, what makes Bedales special?

The relationships and the freedom we give our students to allow them to think for themselves inside and outside of the classroom.

What is your best memory of Bedales?

To date - seeing two of our most academic students present after work experience at NPL. Their project was based on the scientific communication of measurements, which completely put them out of their comfort zones. However, watching them do a fantastic presentation, pitched against several other students from independent and state schools, highlighted brilliantly the fact that a Bedales student truly is a well rounded student.

Who or what inspires you?

My family.

Tell us something not a lot of people know about you.

Before working at Bedales I was the UK Marketing Manager for Miracle-Gro, which really does grow your plants twice as big...
