Parents and teachers alike, having picked up a cricket bat once again after decades of merely watching the experts, realised that there is a slim chance of achieving that match saving innings, or finally taking that illusive hat-trick or indeed, actually hanging onto that catch!
So, in the early 2000s, parents and teachers of the Bedales Schools, having completed combat in the annual grudge fixture, put aside their differences and formed a combined team to take on local village sides - The Gentlemen of Bedales Cricket Club was born.
The team now enjoys a number of annual summer fixtures, having the use of the marvellous Bedales Memorial pitch as a home ground. The team has grown to include teachers, parents past and present, Bedales students past and present, and other like-minded cricketers.
