We look forward to welcoming visitors to Bedales. In this section, you will find useful information for visiting the school.

How to find us

Bedales is set in the heart of the South Downs National Park in Steep, near Petersfield, Hampshire. Our campus is easily accessible via the A3 or the A272; exit at the junction signposted services/Petersfield Industrial Estate.

Our address is Bedales School, Church Road, Steep, Petersfield, GU32 2DG

Parking

Free parking is available in the main car park, opposite Reception in the Orchard Building. From the main entrance on Church Road, take the first right and follow the one-way system to the car park.

The park for coaches, for both picking up and setting down, is just inside the main entrance on the left neat the Art & Design Building. Coaches should not travel further onto the school grounds, as it is difficult to turn round anywhere apart from the coach park itself.

Public transport

Petersfield Railway Station is approximately a mile and a half from Bedales in the centre of Petersfield. The station is managed by South Western Railway who operate the route between Portsmouth Harbour and London Waterloo via Guildford. To plan a train journey and order tickets you can use National Rail Enquiries or the websites of individual operators.

From Petersfield Station, you can walk to Bedales in around 30 minutes (click here for suggested routes). Alternatively, taxis are available outside the station; Bedales is around four minutes away from the station by car.

Safeguarding

We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and all visitors to Bedales are expected to do the same. Before visiting the school, please take a moment to read our Safeguarding guidance.

Visiting speakers

Our programme of visiting speakers forms a key part of the progressively liberal education associated with Bedales. Our guiding principle is to expose pupils to a broad and balanced range of views to encourage discussion and debate around complex issues facing society. Our code of conduct for visiting speakers gives guidance on our approach.
