In founding Bedales, John Badley had the courage and vision to create a learning environment that still inspires students, teachers and parents today. Bedales fosters individuality, giving children and young adults access to learning beyond the classroom, providing an experience that prepares them for life – educating the whole person through head, heart and hand.
The John Badley Foundation will broaden access to Bedales through an endowment fund supporting bursaries for talented youngsters. It will create opportunities for children who otherwise could not afford a Bedales education, and who display the strength of character that Badley and Bedalians would admire. Beneficiaries will show a willingness to make the most of the range of opportunities available at Bedales. Through nurturing those with innate talent, Foundation bursaries will enhance Bedales’ contribution to the local and national community.
Whether the John Badley Foundation can achieve these goals relies upon the support of the entire Bedales community. Financial support, through regular donations, one-off gifts and legacies, as well as broader support through fundraising events and gifts in-kind are crucial to ensure we are able to change the opportunities for young people.
