The school's fundraising priority is to build support for fully-funded bursaries via the John Badley Foundation (JBF). There are a number of ways you can support the JBF, outlined below.

If you would like to support another cause, such as the Bedales Grants Trust Fund, a capital project or student initiative, please contact Tanya Darlow, Head of Development (development@bedales.org.uk) to ensure we can fulfil your wishes.

You can give to the JBF in the following ways

Make a single gift

Any amount you are able to donate will help us increase the number of full bursaries offered each year to children from difficult school and home situations in the UK and abroad.

Make a regular gift

In order to offer each new bursary place, Bedales must have the confidence that it will be able to fund the child’s entire time at the school. Regular donations play a critical role in helping the John Badley Foundation to forward plan and make this possible.

You can choose to give a specific amount each month, year or quarter, or join the 1893 Club by donating £18.93 per month in recognition of Bedales’ founding year.

Fund a bursary with match funding from Bedales

We have a growing major giving programme which we encourage you to speak to the Development Team about if you are in the position to make a transformative gift.

We ask you to cover half the school fees for one student for two, five or seven years, depending on which year group the student is joining. As part of this agreement, the school matches your gift, ensuring that the place is fully funded when offered.

Although you will not be introduced directly to those benefitting from your financial assistance, you will be given an annual anonymised update to give you a sense of the enduring impact of your support. We believe these impact reports show that you can make a tangible difference to these children’s lives, giving them a chance to thrive and grow here and improving their life chances beyond Bedales.

Leave a gift in your Will

When the time is right for you to remember a charity in your Will, please remember the JBF.

The only information you need to leave a gift in your Will to the JBF is its registered address and charity number:

John Badley Foundation, Bedales School, Church Road, Steep, Petersfield, GU32 2DG

Registered charity number: 1138332

You don’t have to tell us how much you have decided to leave but please let us know your intentions so that we can at least say thank you. All those who leave a gift to the John Badley Foundation in their Will are invited to join the John Haden Badley Society, whose members meet annually for lunch.

To talk to us in confidence about leaving a gift in your Will, please contact the Development Team.

Fundraise

Over the past 10 years, the OB and school community have raised thousands of pounds for the John Badley Foundation. From cycling the length of the UK, to curating a sale of student art, to joining the Bedales Great South Run team, our fundraisers have done us proud.

We love hearing your fundraising ideas and welcome all support so please do get in touch if you would like to set up a fundraising page for an event or initiative.

Raise donations when you shop online

Shop online with nearly 3,000 retailers through easyfundraising.org.uk to receive cash rewards that you can turn into donations for the John Badley Foundation.

Support another area of the school

In addition to offering financial support through bursaries, the John Badley Foundation exists to support capital improvements on the Bedales estate, student enrichment projects and the sustained work of the Bedales community in helping good causes.

The school's long-established Bedales Grants Trust Fund (BGTF) is also providing significant bursary support for students at Bedales, particularly (but not exclusively) those with Old Bedalian connections.

Please contact Tanya Darlow, Head of Development (development@bedales.org.uk) to ensure we can fulfil your wishes in supporting Bedales.
