Bedales Parents’ Day 2020 – Saturday 27 June

24/06/2020
Academic & Curriculum, Alumni, Bedales Senior

Parents’ Day is our annual day of celebration of our students’ creativity and abilities. Parents, children and Old Bedalians (our alumni) traditionally come to Bedales on the last Saturday of term to meet up, picnic on the lawns, and enjoy exhibitions and performances ending with the traditional cream tea overlooking the cricket.

This year, however, we know we won’t be together on the Orchard. What we do have are many of those events and opportunities students and parents have come to love. Students and staff have worked hard this term to create this year’s digital offering and that concerted industry has given rise to a wonderfully creative output.

Throughout the day, you’ll be able to drop in on the art and design exhibition and marvel at the ways students have used raw materials to bring out their inner possibilities. At 11.15am we have two dance performances; Household and Site-Specific Solos. Both these films reflect the creativity and innovation that our dancers have shown while being in the confines of their homes and gardens. Then at 12.15pm, The Ash Girl (our Summer Production) will be shown, reimagined as a site-specific, animated radio play performed by Block 3 and 4 students. After a break for lunch, join us at 2pm for a Music Concert that showcases the skill and enthusiasm of our musicians. Finally at 3.15pm, the annual Student Directed production is reinvented as a film combining visuals, poetry, and performance. At 4pm you will then be able find all of these performances on our school Vimeo video channel, to enjoy again whenever you choose.

We are incredibly proud of the students and look forward to joining you all virtually for strawberries and cream from a (social) distance, while we gaze in wonder at what they’re capable of achieving.
