Bedales Campus

Signature spaces
Lupton Hall

Bedales' original school hall, designed by renowned Arts and Crafts architect Ernest Gimson and built by Old Bedalian Geoffrey Lupton in 1911. For almost a century the Grade I listed building was at the centre of school life, falling out of regular use until its careful restoration in 2017. Now returned to its original splendour, the Lupton Hall is a dedicated music and lecture space for the Bedales community.

The Memorial Library

Built in 1921 as a memorial to those who died in the First World War, the Grade I listed Memorial Library represents Ernest Gimson's architectural mastery. Considered one of the finest Arts and Crafts buildings in the country, this peaceful sanctuary houses 33,000 books arranged in distinctive bays featuring original furniture by Gimson and the Barnsleys, creating an inspiring space for study and reflection.

Sam Banks Pavilion

Completed in 2013, this stunning timber-framed sports pavilion overlooks the astroturf and Prep sports pitches, dedicated to the memory of Old Bedalian Sam Banks, a talented cricketer who died aged 20. Built through community fundraising efforts with Old Bedalians designing and constructing the building, this beautiful pavilion serves as both a practical sporting facility and a fitting memorial to a passionate young cricketer.

Art & Design Building

Opened in 2016, the award-winning Art & Design Building showcases contemporary architecture at its finest, winning recognition from the Royal Institute of British Architects. This state-of-the-art facility provides inspiring creative spaces for students to explore art, design, and making, continuing Bedales' long tradition of nurturing artistic talent and celebrating the importance of creative expression.
