If you’d like to see some local art with a gloriously Bedalian twist, pop in to CampaChooChoo, the café at Petersfield railway station, where you’ll find an exhibition of our Block 1s' (Year 7s') work.
The project is inspired by the buildings of Petersfield and all the wonderful independent shops. Students depicted a variety of distinctive architectural styles, including stripey Tudor beams, symmetrical Georgian façades, vernacular structures and Victorian polychrome brickwork.
Inspired by Eric Ravilious’ nostalgic ‘The High Street’ prints, our Block 1s created a series of colourful, lino prints. They were also influenced by the work of local artist Flora Twort. Sketching portraits, making prints and painting in watercolours, Twort depicted everyday life, and the people and places of Petersfield, and we think our students have done an incredible job of carrying that legacy forwards, into 2025. Twort’s work can be seen in the Petersfield Museum and we highly recommend a visit.
The Block 1 exhibition runs until mid-October.
