At Bedales, student-led innovation is more than encouraged - it’s actively funded. Through the BPA Enhancement Bids programme, students across the Whole School are empowered to turn creative ideas into reality, enriching the life and landscape of the community. From biodiversity boards designed by eco-conscious students, to a photography dark room imagined by budding artists, the initiative reflects our belief in student agency and purposeful learning.
Recent bids have also supported outdoor classrooms, forge tools, a portable cricket cage, portable Podcast studio and playground improvements - each project initiated and shaped by those who benefit most. Whether it's equipment, resources or space to explore something new and enhance school life, we want to hear it.
Applications are open to all students via the school Heads. If help is needed preparing a bid, peers, parents and teachers are always on hand.
Decisions are made by the BPA in the Summer term, though urgent requests are considered year-round. Once approved, funds are released by the school Bursar and the transformation begins.
The Enhancement Bids programme isn’t just a fund, it’s a statement that student ideas matter.
